May 30th Daily Journal
That day we learn about many topics but I am
going to start by chronological order, first we were talking about Adjective +
infinitive; noun + infinitive, on common health complaints like headache, flu
or a cold and this is useful to give tips against the symptoms. You can say “it’s
important to take some vitamin C”, “it’s sometimes helpful to eat garlic soup”,
“it’s a good idea to see a doctor”. Also make a match activity of witch
container is the correct for some objects e.g. “a bottle of aspirin”, “a pack
of tissues” or “a bag of cough drops”. Later we made and activity of circle the
correct words using modals verbs can, could, may for request; suggestions using
what we learnt previously e.g. “Can/Could I help you?”, “May/Do I have
something for itchy eyes”, “You could/may try a bottle of eyedrops” the correct
ones in order are “Can, May and Could”.
The next thing we worked on was the use of “So,
too” for affirmative answer and “Neither, Either” for negative ones on activity
of compare with partner of agreement with the statements, e.g. someone can say
“I always eat healthy food” and you can use “So do I/I do, too” and when we
need to respond in the negative way when someone say “I’m not crazy about salty
food” you can say “Neither am I/I’m not either”.
After that we made an activity of complete a
conversation using modal verbs would and will for requests is very useful, e.g.
of one request could be: “What would you like to drink?” and the answers for this using both modals “I’d
like an iced tea. / I’ll have coffee”.
Next to what we learn after, was the use of
comparisons with adjectives e.g. for comparative we can ask “Which country is
larger, Canada or China” and the comparative answer is “Canada is larger than
China” the comparative use the suffix -er in the adjective, and for superlative
we can ask “Which city has the largest population: Tokyo, Mexico City, or Sao
Pablo?” and the superlative answers is “Tokyo has the largest population of the
three” and then we made an activity of complete the question and them answer it
using this topic.
Next, we learn how to make questions with how
and adjectives like how far, how big, how high, how deep, how long, how hot and
how cold and then we made a practice and write questions for the answers in this
activity followed by the Future with present continuous and be going to topic the
syntax for this is in questions “WH + be + Subject + verbing + to + rest?” for
positive answer “Subj + be + verbing + to + rest” and negative ones “No, +
subject + be + not” and we made and activity of complete invitations questions
and answers.
And finally, we learn to make massages with
tell to ask e.g. when the statement is “The meeting is on Friday.” We can made
the messages using: “Please tell her that + the statement”, “Could you tell her
that + the statement” or “Would you tell her that + the statement” and doing it
with requests is “Call me this afternoon” the message is “Please ask him to +
request”, “Could you ask him to + request” or “Would you ask him to + request”.
